The mission of the Community Education Department is to create and build a mutually interdependent relationship among home, school, and community that will have a positive impact and encourage excellence in education.  

Responsibilities of the Community Education Department include, but are not limited to: 

  • Public Relations

  • Extended Day Programs at the elementary schools

  • Military Liaison (S2S, Purple Star Designation, Impact Aid)

  • Facilitate the Russell County Schools Education Foundation

  • Facilitate the Superintendent’s Advisory Council

  • Special Events/Hospitality Coordinator

  • Coordinate United Way & Relay for Life Annual Campaigns

  • Serve on various committees/boards (East Alabama Chamber of Commerce Board, East Alabama Regional Inservice Center Board, DHR Quality Assurance, The Columbus Museum Education Committee, 4-H Adult Advisory Committee, Russell County Relay for Life Committee, and a member of the Phenix City Rotary Club)
