• Dear Parents and Students,

I am excited to welcome you to a new school year at Dixie Elementary!

First, let me tell you a part of my story. I earned my Bachelors degree from Faulker University, a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education from Alabama State University and finally an Ed.S degree in Leadership from Troy University.  I began my career as an educator in 1999. My career as an educator started in Dadeville, AL in the Tallapoosa County School System where I was a Kindergarten teacher for seven years. My family and I moved to Auburn, where I began teaching 1st grade at Yarbrough Elementary School. I also taught 2nd and 3rd grade for a few years at Yarbough Elementary before becoming the Instructional Coach at Richland Elementary School. In 2016, I became the Assistant Principal at Cary Woods Elementary School in Auburn, AL. I began as principal at Dixie Elementary in 2021.

This year the Russell County School District’s theme is “It’s Our Winning Season”.  At Dixie we are a team, hence our school theme this year is “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!” At Dixie, winning is what is expected each and every day, with each and every lesson, with each and every assignment, with each and every project, etc. We need you to help us achieve a Winning Season. It takes a village or team to raise a child. Therefore, we need your help getting your child here and on time each day, to come to school prepared and ready to learn each day, be actively engaged each day, completing class assignments and homework assignments each day, and to be on his/her best behavior each day. We can’t achieve a Winning Season if we don’t have your support. We need you to take an active part in your child’s education by checking his/her folder each night, completing his/her reading log and or timed reading each night, ensuring projects are completed and submitted on time, volunteering at the school, providing suggestions, joining DEPTO, and encouraging your child. We all want our children to be successful and ready for a Winning Season as we prepare for the 2022-2023 school year!!

I hope you take the time to read through our student handbook. It contains important information that will be beneficial for you throughout the school year.

Together we will be Reaching New Heights and Soaring to Excellence!  It's Our Winning Season!

    Children First,

    Lamarrius Anderson
